Demand for Sustainable & Ethically Sound Product Delivery

Demand for Sustainable & Ethically Sound Product Delivery

The public today demands not only stringent quality, but also sustainable and ethically sound product delivery  as Quality, Occupational Safety & Health and Environmental (QSHE) issues in the country becomes increasingly important and of public concern. .

Organisations therefore require a greater level of understanding of product quality, standards and requirements, occupational safety and health regulations and practices, as well as environmental concerns, said Dato’ Roszali Othman, Group Managing Director of TH Properties Group.

Speaking at the launch of TH Properties’ 1st QSHE Campaign 2013 on 18 December 2013,  he said organizations and companies must address these issues effectively as in the new age of social media and 24/7 information, any mistake or incident may cause irrecoverable damage. His speech was delivered on his behalf by TH Properties Director, Tuan Haji Mohamed Rahim Bin Ismail.

The QSHE 2013, organized by TH Properties as part of the group’s its strategy to ingrain QSHE policies and processes into the work culture, was officially launched by Datuk Ir Hamzah Hasan, the Chairman of the Construction Industry Board.

Datuk Ir Hamzah noted in his speech that in the wake of an increasing number of accidents at construction areas, there is an urgent need to ensure that greater emphasis is placed on occupational safety and health (OSH) issues in the construction process so as to enhance confidence in the safety at construction sites.

He urged all parties to commit to undertaking the Safety & Health Assessment System in Construction (SHASSIC) evaluations at their respective construction projects and sites and, subsequently, undertake the appropriate measures where needed to ensure optimum OSH levels.

Some 112 participants comprising contractors, consultants, vendors, business associates and stakeholders attended the two-day event which included several presentations by industry experts on topical issues related to QSHE.

Dato’ Roszali noted that the programme was organized as a year-end event to mark the culmination of various QSHE initiatives undertaken by the TH Properties group during the year.

According to him, the event’s theme of “Managing Emerging QSHE Issues Effectively through a Management System” was appropriate as the time has come to focus on upgrading an organisation’s QSHE Environmental management systems towards sustainable development.

“As a responsible property developer and contractor, TH Properties is also conscious of the possible impact our activities have on the environment and therefore seek to minimize and control any adverse impacts wherever the company operates,” he added.
